This is referenced from a photo I took of this cool bridge in the city. I wanted to try a simple style of painting on this one to try and loosen up a bit and focus on lighting effects. I'm really happy with how the two figures came out, I've been wanting to try the light from behind silhouette for a while.

I would love to see more detail to the figures. I actually think this should be two different pictures.

One dedicated to the surreal nature of the stars and this building. And the second focusing on the shadowy figures atop.

I think my favorite thing about this piece is the bottom right corner with these three orbs. I dont know why, but my eye just goes there.

Thanks for the advice. I was sort of thinking so too. After I finished this one, I sort of realised that the composition wasn't too good, like there are lots of competing focal points.

:D Thankyou! I used a flat shaped brush with the opacity control set to "pen pressure" To get the colour of the light right, I set the colour mode of the pen to "overlay" and used a pale yellow colour. Hope that makes sense. :aww:

Ooh, I have nightmares about multiple light sources. I think you should try lighting practice with a more semitransparent brush--you've got the starting of a cool effect, but right now the (what looks like) high opacity is messing it up.

Ooh, thanks. I'll try lower opacity next time. Also, next time I think I'll take a night time photo to reference. This one was taken in the day, and I had to estimate the lights. :B

I really love the lighting on this! The little glowy lights to the left and bottom left might be a bit much though, they disrupt the movement of the eye between the two brightest lights/focal points a bit.

Ah, good point. I should pay attention to focal points and that sort of stuff more. I think I'll remove them. Thanks!
